DC Affiliate

A sealed envelope with a padlock and a shield

The short version. If you subscribe, we keep your email and where you signed up. When you click a program link, we log the click (your IP is stored only as a salted hash). We use one short cookie to remember campaign parameters. We never sell personal data, we never see or store payment details, and you can have your data deleted by asking. The full policy below is the binding version.

1. Who we are

DC Affiliate (dcaffiliate.com) is an independent affiliate review publication. This policy covers this website and its newsletter. In this policy, “we” means DC Affiliate.

2. What we collect

Category Examples Source
Subscription data Email address, signup page, campaign parameters, subscription status You, when you subscribe
Click data Product clicked, time, campaign parameters, referring page; IP address stored only as a salted one-way hash Automatically, when you use an outbound /go/ link
Usage data Pages viewed, approximate region, device and browser type Automatically, via cookies and similar technology
Correspondence Your message and email address You, when you contact us

We do not collect payment details. Purchases and signups happen on the vendor’s own site, under the vendor’s privacy policy.

3. How we use it

To send the newsletter you asked for; to measure which content and campaigns produce clicks and signups, so rankings and coverage reflect real demand; to keep the site secure and working; and to answer your messages. We do not use your data to build advertising profiles, and we do not run third-party advertising trackers for other companies’ campaigns.

4. Sharing — including what happens when you click out

When you click an outbound program link, the destination network or vendor receives the referral information needed to attribute the click (including our affiliate identifier and campaign parameters). That attribution is the mechanism that pays for this site, and it is described in our Disclosure. We also share limited data with service providers who run parts of the site for us — hosting, email delivery and security — under contracts that limit their use of it. We may disclose data if required by law. We do not sell your personal information for money. If any practice of ours counts as a “sale” or “sharing” of personal information under California law, you may opt out via the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link in the footer, and we honour Global Privacy Control signals.

5. Cookies

We set one first-party cookie for 30 minutes to remember campaign parameters so a click is attributed to the content that sent you. If analytics is enabled, it is aggregate and used only to understand which pages are read. You can block cookies in your browser; the site will still work, but click attribution may be lost.

6. Retention

Subscription data: kept while you are subscribed, and deleted within 30 days of an unsubscribe or deletion request (apart from a suppression record kept only to honour your unsubscribe). Click data: identifiable records are kept for 24 months, then aggregated into anonymous statistics. Correspondence: kept up to 24 months.

7. Security

Data is held on access-controlled systems, transmitted over HTTPS, and IP addresses are never stored in plain form. No system is perfectly secure; if a breach affecting your data occurs, we will notify you as the law requires.

8. Your rights

Depending on where you live — including under the CCPA/CPRA in California and similar laws in other states — you may have the right to: know what personal information we hold about you; access it; correct it; delete it; opt out of any sale or sharing; and not be discriminated against for exercising these rights. To make a request, contact us via the Contact page (choose “Privacy & legal”) or the privacy contact below. We respond within 45 days, verify requests proportionately, accept authorised agents, and if we refuse a request we will tell you why and how to appeal. Unsubscribing from the newsletter is separate and instant — every email carries an unsubscribe link.

9. Children

This site is for a general adult audience. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 (or sell/share data of anyone under 16). If you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will delete it.

10. Third-party links

Our reviews link to external sites we do not control. Their privacy practices are their own; read their policies before signing up.

11. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy materially, we will update this page and the date below, and note the change for newsletter subscribers where appropriate.

12. Contact for privacy matters

Reach the privacy contact via the Contact page (“Privacy & legal”) or by email at info@dcaffiliate.com.
